In this article, I’m expressing my opinions on the best kind of love and the top dramas that portray it from my perspective. Maybe you can’t agree with me on some points, still I hope you will enjoy reading this article.
Love is a word we are all familiar with. It has a different meaning for each person. Do you know there are 8 to 12 different kinds of love according to the ancient greeks? Therefore, I’m going to write about 13 different kinds of love through drama and movie plots. This article doesn’t have any connection with ancient greeks’ love though.

1. First I am going to mention a kind of love |
1. Pure Love
Definition: Pure love is a feeling deep within a person’s mind. Some might refer to these feelings as vibrations within the heart or soul. Pure love fosters compassion, kindness and giving. In their purest form, these feelings of love are not conditional upon any desires for the self, including the desire to be loved in return.
My Thoughts: For me, the only name that comes to my mind after hearing pure love is “Mother”. No one can give us pure love other than our mothers. I don’t believe that anyone’s life partner can love that person more than their mother. But sometimes it happens we get pure love from someone else other than our parents but it’s very rare. In terms of the best kind of love, pure love comes first. Pure love is mother’s love or our parents’ love, rarely found by other people.
In drama land we have some great examples of pure love.
Lie After Lie (2020)

Lie after lie shows the pure love of a mother for her daughter. It was portrayed very differently. It also shows us the love of two different fathers. One of them is the ML who purely loves his foster daughter like his own. The other father is a supporting character in the drama but his love for his son definitely caught my attention. As its definition says pure love doesn’t expect anything in return including love.

Hope (2013)

This movie is a masterpiece itself. The story, cast, acting, visuals, and direction of this movie were 10/10.
This movie comes under this category because the way they showed the love of the parents was on another level. But the pure love of a father for his daughter was incredible. After being assaulted, she stops talking with her father and becomes disgusted with men. Her father had to put in a lot of hard work to win her over again. It made me burst into tears. The side characters’ story is also very warming. My Rating: 9.5/10 |
Flower of Evil (2020)

Flower of Evil showed the love of parents for their daughter. It also showed the love of an innocent child for her parents. This drama comes under this category because the love of the mother for her child, the love of a brother for his sister, had different places in this drama. While loving our child, we don’t think about what is right or wrong. We only care for our children. It’s also a masterpiece. Everyone should watch this drama. My Rating: 10/10 |
2. Usual Love
Definition: A normal kind of love between two people.
My thoughts: For me, this kind of love is about two people meeting each other at a sudden event, get attracted to each other, and then fall in love.

Because of You (2020)

In this category, this drama’s name came to my mind first because it perfectly fits this type. It’s the usual kind of love that normally happens in real life. We meet with a stranger, get close to that person, and eventually, fall in love. This drama has this kind of love with a funny and interesting storyline and cast. I saw it randomly and was totally satisfied with this drama and finished this drama in 2 hours 50 minutes. It’s a great and short Taiwanese drama that is worth watching. It’s possibly having another season. My Rating: 7.5/10 |
Mood of the day (2016)
The leads meet each other on the train. At first, they weren’t attracted to each other, but they were getting close and the love blooms as they moved to many places together. My Rating: 9/10 |
Miss Independent Ji Eun (2018)
Ji Eun, an independent young lady shares the story of her life. She meets the male lead in her office who loves her but keeps it a secret. It’s a Korean web drama. My Rating: 8/10 |
Coffee and Vanilla (2019)
The male lead gets attracted to the female lead at first glance, then confesses to her and the story starts. It’s a popular J-drama but many people didn’t like it at all. What I loved is the romantic scenes of the leads. My Rating: 6.5/10 |
My Dear Loser: Happy Ever After |
Life: Senjou no Bokura (2020)

Just go search for this drama and watch it even if you don’t have free time. I loved watching this drama apart from one thing which was Akira’s breakups with Yuuki. Other than that I love this drama. My Rating: 8.5/10 |

3. Childhood Love
Definition: A love that happened in someone’s childhood. The first love of a person.
My thoughts: haa, childhood love seriously! Well, I don’t remember much about my childhood and children falling in love…it seems really creepy to me. However, this kind of love does exist.

It’s such a meaningful and very beautiful movie. I totally could feel the emotions of the actors. One of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. That’s why I love early 00’s movies.

The female lead chased the male lead since her childhood. I loved this drama a lot but somehow ended up dropping it. I don’t remember why I dropped this drama. It’s a famous C-drama and many people’s favourite drama, so I recommend you check it out yourself.

Sweet First Love (2020)

I watched this drama because of the Brother-Sister love story but it was about a childhood love story. The beginning was good but the ending didn’t make much sense to me. Most of the time I felt really angry at the female lead.
It is a good one-time watch drama. My Rating: 7/10 |
We Best Love: No. 1 For You (2021)

Ahh, I don’t know how I should start. The story was interesting. I totally loved it and it’s a Taiwanese example of a love story which started in their childhood. I don’t want to give too many spoilers.

They’re one of my favourite couples.
The male lead was in love with her since his childhood but he didn’t realize it. It’s a slow story but with a deep meaning. My Rating: 7.5/10 |
Go Ahead (2020)
|
The male lead was in love with the female lead since his childhood. Well, do I really need to say anything about this? It’s one of the most successful C-drama of 2020. It changed the point of view of so many peoples.

4.Falling In Love With A Friend
Definition: Friends falling in love since childhood or their adulthood.
My thoughts: I love this kind of love. Also, no, I have never fallen in love with a friend.

Before starting, look at the title one again. Ok, so it’s not falling in love but failing in love. I have watched this web drama like 19 times but noticed the title after someone commented about it. A Korean web drama about childhood love. The second male lead was in love with the female lead since his childhood but never expressed it. In Time With You (2011)

This drama is really suitable for this category. I love how their love story starts. It shows the real way of friends falling in love.

I remember watching this drama. It was really funny. From the leads to the supporting characters I liked everyone.

5. Hate To Love
Definition: A love-hate relationship is an interpersonal relationship involving simultaneous or alternating emotions of love and hate—something particularly common when emotions are intense. The term is used frequently in psychology, popular writing, and journalism.
My thoughts: In dramaland, it’s my favourite genre.

6. Loving Sensei
Definition: Falling in love with your teacher.
My thoughts: Well, I like this type sometimes in dramas. In real life, I’m totally against it. Although in 5th grade I had a huge crush on my math tutor…haha

It is the most popular J-drama of 2018. Regarding student-teacher relationships, I only watch when the teacher is female and the student is male. I liked how they showed this kind of love to the audience.

Ahh, my favourite drama in this kind of love. Just one thing distracted me, the female lead was taller than the male. I loved how she fought to be with him. I recommend this to everyone.

My Rainy Days (2009)

Well, I haven’t watched a lot of student-teacher relationship dramas or movies but after trying a few I found out they usually don’t have strong development. This movie was totally different. It’s not a silly girl falling in love with her teacher. It was meaningful and deep. My Rating: 8.5/10 |
Parasite (2019)

For some reason I don’t like Parasite that much but talking about their relationship, at first, I couldn’t see any actual love but, in the end, this girl truly loved her teacher.

7. Love at first sight
Definition: Love at first sight, is a personal experience as well as a common trope or stock convention in literature: a person or character feels an instant, extreme, and ultimately long-lasting romantic attraction for a stranger upon first seeing that individual.
My thoughts: Noooo, it’s a big no for me. Even after living with a person for years, we can’t really know that person’s real self.

My favourite drama. Yes, this love, at first sight, is what I love. I loved everything about this drama. If I ever fall in love I want their kind of love.
The female lead falls in love with the male lead at first sight and starts to chase him. It felt like a real love story. Have you guys watched this masterpiece? I found my favourite Korean actress through this drama. She is such a versatile actress. I mean in other dramas her character was so different. And in real life, she is completely different. A classy and decent lady who loves the world of cinema and loves acting. She was born to be an actress. It is too sad that people don’t appreciate her enough. My Rating: 10/10 |
2gether (2020)

The big twist of this drama was that Tine was Sarawat’s love at first sight. The story was interesting and different from other Thai dramas. It was good with a different storyline. My Rating: 8/10 |
Love Alarm (2019)
|
The male lead of this drama’s first season fell in love at first sight with the female lead. This drama started pretty well but I lost interest in it after their accident. I’m not a fan of K-dramas but I like Korean movies.

8. Love After Marriage
Definition: Loving your partner after marriage.
My thoughts: Well yeah, married couples should love each other.

This is such a beautiful drama. I watched it for the arranged marriage tag but was totally satisfied with this drama. Their development, relationship, and other stuff were really well portrayed. The female is a new Japanese actress but she is really good at acting. Her character didn’t feel weird or annoying. It felt really cute and innocent. This is one of the best short dramas I have ever seen. Who still hasn’t watched this definitely should watch this drama to feel special and feel the family love. My Rating: 8/10 |
Shanai Marriage Honey (2020)

I watched it for the same reason as the other one but loved their chemistry and romantic scenes. It’s also a good drama but not like the one above. It is still worth watching.

You’re My Destiny (2017)

The Thai version of Fated to love you. I like this version the most. They portrayed Thai culture which was fun to see.
Must-watch for Esther Supreeleela fans. My Rating: 7.5/10 |
9. Siblings love
Definition: A sibling is a random person with whom you must live throughout your childhood. Unlike a friend or a lover or a spouse, you do not choose a sibling based on attraction or affinity. Unlike a parent or at least a good parent, a sibling has usually not been devoted to your care and seeing you flourish.
My thoughts: It is my second favourite category. I have one big brother and it’s a blessing for me.

Hoon was a really good big brother who was always there for his brother. He was the one who encouraged Teh to be with Oh Aew no matter what happens. From supporting his every decision to helping him to live his life the way he wants his character deserves appreciation.

Flower of Evil (2020)
|
Do Hyun soo isn’t that good at expressing his feelings but he loves his sister a lot. To help him, his sister took a big step. To not trouble her he took the blame. The little details showed us how they love each other although they were separated for a long time.

Love and Redemption (2020)
|
Ling Long supported her little sister with all her efforts. They loved each other a lot. They are a great example of sisters’ love in dramaland.

TharnType (2019)
|
This drama decently showed the siblings’ love. Thorn loved Tharn and Thanya a lot and the same things go for Tharn and Thanya too. They didn’t fight once throughout the drama and supported and cared for each other. My Rating: 8.5/10 |
Good Doctor (2013)
|
I loved this drama a lot. I haven’t watched the remake versions and I will never watch it because the great acting Joo Won has done, nobody can match it. This character was made for him. I love this brother’s relationship. I watched this drama for Moon Chae won though.

10. Soul Love
Definition: Soul love is pure love. … Soul love is a condition of your spirit. It is your original state. It is comprised of peace and purity; happiness and joy; acceptance and forgiveness; empathy and compassion; truth and knowledge; and all the high qualities of your being. Soul love overcomes all.
My thoughts: It’s not easy to love someone’s soul.

For me, the lead’s love was soul love since the male lead might not be able to give a normal life to the female lead yet she decides to love him back.

Gu Hai didn’t like Bai Luo Yin at first sight. So why did he love him? He always said that he is also a normal man and in the past, he had dated girls. He fell in love with Bai Luo Yin’s soul, not with his outer appearance. He loved his honesty and self-respect. He loved him and always wanted to be with him. My Rating: 8.5/10 |

Do Hyun Soo wasn’t an evil person and I believe he didn’t pretend in front of his daughter. His daughter, the innocent child definitely recognized her father’s true self. They were connected by their souls.

11. Unrealized Love
Definition: Loving someone without realizing it.
My thoughts: Yes, it happens in real life too.

12. Disgusting Love
Definition: A love that destroys another person’s life which doesn’t benefit anybody and makes us think that animals are better than humans.
My thoughts: In this category, we have cheating and deceiving themed love. I hate extramarital affairs the most. I hate cheaters.

This drama’s main leads’ love for their mistresses was disgusting. I hated these 6 characters so much. The only thing that encouraged me to finish this drama was the female leads.

Definition: Unconditional love is known as affection without any limitations, or love without conditions. This term is sometimes associated with other terms such as true altruism or complete love.
My thoughts: For me, it’s the pure love between two lovers.
